SigTow to Go 10 Stories Higher

According to today's Tennessean, developer Tony Giarratana intends not only to build the tallest building in Nashville with his Signature Tower, but his latest plans have got it going up to 65 stories or 1,047 feet. That's 400 feet higher than the Batman Building. Today, an Urbanplanet.org commenter said that at that height, SigTow would be the 21st tallest building in the world, the 5th tallest building in the U.S., and taller than the Chrysler Building in NYC by one foot. The opening date of 2009 has not changed, but construction will begin this January. The Metro Development and Housing Agency must still approve, but MDHA's Executive Director told the Tennessean that revisions will have no effect on the tax-incentive package they have already given Giarratana.

At 1,047 feet, I'd say that SigTow is going to give us an exponentially grander view of the Nashville skyline from our yard.
