Developers Heed Community Concerns When Forced To

While the fight over development in and planning of rural Bells Bend continues, it is worth noting that developers of the proposed May Town Center have now found a way to propose more green space buffers, to set up a fund for land preservation, and to move the proposed bridge away from protesting Charlotte Park neighborhoods (why did developers plan a bridge through those neighborhoods rather than out by Tune Airport to begin with?). That evinces to me that, in their initial presentation, developers generally try to get away with what they can, ignoring ecological concerns or neighborhood interests, and only when they face stiff community opposition are they willing to incorporate more responsible building practices into their concepts. The neighborhoods affected (which now includes any around Cockrill Bend) should continue to mobilize and to fight for their interests, because no one else will.
