Tying Up Loose 2005 Ends
Here's a story from November that I meant to respond to but forgot about. It is evidence that an emergent time of need does not even soften hearts hardened by trivial details. Some faith-based relief workers refused to pass out certain cans of water to victims of Hurricane Wilma. The pastor of the Baptist church supplying the workers denied that they refused, but did admit that his group would not be the group passing the cans out because they found the corporate logo--an eagle and the letter "A"--on the cans to be offensive. I guess in times of tragedy and travail, getting thirsty people water is less important than not offending the relief workers' petty sensibilities.
