Crafton's "English-Only" Bill Passed and Deferred to October Meeting

Eric Crafton withdrew his original English-only bill tonight and introduced a substitute bill that affirmed English-only government, but made exceptions for health and safety communications. The substitute bill, after some debate, was accepted by voice vote and deferred to the October 17 council meeting. During his comments, Crafton derided the state's English-only law, accused the American Civil Liberties Union of litigating civil rights cases just for the fees, and introduced his bill in Japanese to make a point.

Council members who spoke tonight expressed an interest in learning more about this issue, so register your opposition to Crafton's ordinance here.
