Some wish to have it both ways: he tells me that I falsely read meanings into his comments that aren't there; he tells me that I should read meanings into his comments that aren't there. In the mean time, the notion of taking criticism gracefully is lost in the shuffle.
UPDATE: He's accusing Aunt B. of reading meanings (a.k.a., "misinterpret") into his thoughts.
