More It's-Not-Easy-Being-Green Whining over Westin

Once again a Westin team member groans about LEED certification to the media:
[T]he local project's attorney, said the delay here is due in part to requirements that the structure be set back from Broadway and Second Avenue and have features such as a green roof and environmentally friendly Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design certification.

"It's a complicated building to design because of where it is and because of the requirements associated with our zoning," Weaver said.
Whenever developers start complaining about how hard doing exceptional things (like leading the way on green building or showing respect for historical character) are, I'm reminded of Jimmy Dugan's retort in A League of Their Own:
Of course it's hard. It's the hard that makes it great. If it were easy, everybody would do it.
The Westin team should just stop blaming external forces and look in the mirror if they need to assign blame. They agreed to the conditions in 2006.
