Sarah-Come-Lately: Palin Proposes "New" Online Checkbook Already Introduced by Obama

The John McCain/Sarah Palin Fabrication Express reached a whole new level of embarrassment on Thursday when Palin promised to bring a service to Washington that was already created by Barack Obama and fellow Senator Tom Coburn.

Obama and Coburn introduced the Federal Funding Accountability and Transparency Act, which created a free web site that publicly discloses all federal grants, contracts, loans and insurance payments. In June the two Senators introduced new legislation to expand accessibility to earmarks, competitive bidding, criminal activities, audit disputes and other government information.

That would make Sarah Palin's idea a duplication of services, a waste of taxpayer money, and thus, so very lame. Even more comedic was the campaign's feeble excuse when they found out that the inititative already existed:
A campaign spokesperson insisted that Palin was referring not to that specific proposal, but rather to "that kind of transparency in general."
Sure. Whatever.
