Compare the current design to this 1946 Tennessean file photo of the original spigots and trough that tapped into the sulphur spring aquifer that runs from the North End to Sulphur Dell (west of Bicentennial Mall State Park). Nashvillians used to line up to tap the stinky stuff because they believed it had medicinal properties. The old Morgan Park fountain was dismantled in the 1950s.
I can't help but wonder how long it's going to take for that carwash truck to hook up to the fountain to gank water to fill up his tank for free all summer long now that there are actual spigots there. :/
