Southern Republicans Block 2007 Renewal of the 1965 Voting Rights Act
Have southern Republicans become so cocky and complacent that they no longer need to prove to impartial judges that they are committed to protecting the voting rights of minorities in Alabama, Alaska, Arizona, Georgia, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina, Texas and Virginia?

Why shouldnt the bill be amended to reflect more recent data or applied throughout the country?
ReplyDeleteShould some states continue to be held to a different standard than the rest of the country based on mid 60's voting data?
The last states where I heard complaints of minority disenfranchisement were Florida and Ohio, neither of which is on the list.
