The Ugliest Building in Nashville

In answer to Wage's call:

I don't know what it is called, but it is near the Court House and I pass it nearly every day.

I cannot think of another building that instills more aversion in its absolute void of beauty than this one. None of the other monstrocities listed in the comments sink below its inability to contribute much to the urban aesthetic.

  1. I read somewhere in the past couple days that this building was recently sold. I've pondered its appearance several times. I actually like the upper, tower portion, but the cladding on the bottom parking garage portion looks like crap and doesn't match the rest of the building. The worst part is the dented metal screens. Actually, maybe the pea-gravelled pre-cast concrete on the garage is worse. If office-to-residential tower conversions ever take hold in Nashville, I believe this building would be an ideal candidate since the floorplates are relatively small. The garage needs a new facade that compliments the tower rather than degrades it.
