Maybe We Just Have to Catch Up to Teleprompters

So which John McCain are supposed to follow given last night's speech? The one who said, "We never hide from history. We make history." Or the one who said, "We have to catch up to history." Was it another teleprompter malfunction?

Thank heavens the GOP weathered the crucible where the soul of a leader is tested and refined: the battle of the teleprompters. We already knew that McCain was trying to catch up to history just using one. Odysseus couldn't have written a greater narrative on trials and mettle than MSNBC's blow-by-blow account of Sarah Palin's first acid test of leadership in dealing with a bad teleprompter, and Fox News made Palin look heroic for single-handledly delivering a speech with with a "faulty" teleprompter. Never mind that the legend of the Palin teleprompter was completely pulled out of the ass of the McCain campaign.

It's a dangerous world out there. There's a teleprompter in the woods. And the Republican convention could have gone horribly wrong:
