Hillsboro-West End shows us how win-win SP zoning is supposed to be done
CM Kristine LaLonde's SP rezoning ordinance sailed through Metro Council public hearing tonight with no protest or debate, even though SP proposals have come to be lightning rods for some communities. In her comments CM LaLonde thanked the Hillsboro-West End neighborhood association and the developer for working together to agree on a plan that would avoid replacing an old church building with ubiquitous high-density condos, which would be out of place next to the large public park named for the local activist who fought Vanderbilt expansion. LaLonde said that an event hall is the plan for the church building.
