It's not so much urban-to-suburban outmigration as
metro-to-metro outmigration. The Commercial Appeal cites reasons for people leaving the greater Memphis area: lack of opportunity, ethnic divisions, lower wages, inflated prices, and cultural issues.
But hey, at least Memphis is progressive and diverse
