1.4 million Louisiana households continue to be blacked out in the wake of Hurricane Gustav. And 300,000 New Orleaneans and 1.9 million Gulf Coast resident are still homeless as they wait for permission to come back.
Nonetheless, the Republicans, who are no longer emphasizing service to the needy (given that Tropical Depression Gustav is now petering itself out over Arkansas), could have probably saved themselves from their disingenuous compassionate conservative telethon if they just would have paid attention to the water temperature signs that Gustav was not going to be another Katrina. Oh, well. Maybe next time.
