Council Passes Measure to Prohibit the Consumption of Alcohol at After Hours Clubs

No discussion, but bill sponsor Anna Page did present a petition signed by Nashvillians who did not have access to e-mail to contact council members.  Passed on second reading.  Next reading will be final reading.

UPDATE: Page passed on third and final reading a companion bill that restricts the location of after hours clubs:
No after hours establishment shall be located within five hundred feet from the property line of any residential property. Distances shall be measured in a straight line from the closest point of the after hours establishment building to the closest point of the residential property line.
After hours club supporters may argue that this makes Nashville unhip, but neighborhoods, not pub crawlers, are the ones most put upon by after hours clubs.
