Builders Waste Metro Money by Burning Trash
The past two evenings construction workers at a development on 6th Avenue in Salemtown have been burning their rubbish in piles at the alley and leaving them unattended to burn all night. Besides being illegal, the fires produce acrid smoke that pollutes the neighborhood, including getting into homes through dryer and fan exhausts. Yesterday, I called the Metro Fire Department twice to come put out these fires, and I will continue to do so as the fires start up. Hence, builders are only wasting taxpayer dollars when they burn stuff that they should be hauling to the dump.
