Metro Attempts To Help the North End Dampen Traffic Along 5th Avenue

I already introduced readers to the 5th Avenue Dragstrip, and I explained why it is prone to speeding and reckless driving. I also related meeting and speaking with a Metro Traffic & Parking supervisor less than a month ago about what can be done on 5th to remedy the situation. Today, I discovered that they were laying down white lane markers effectively narrowing the driving lanes. Metro is making what appear to be good efforts to change drivers' perceptions of lane widths on 5th Avenue. The white lane markers run from deep in the heart of Germantown into Salemtown and along the most dangerous parts of 5th. If they slow traffic down and make our neighborhood safer, we can all thank Metro for helping us out.
