McCain Unsure of How Many Homes He Owns

In an era where many Americans are struggling to meet their mortgage and pay their bills, John McCain's biggest domestic challenge is his inability to recall the number of homes he actually owns. But his staff apparently can do it for him. Is there any better barometer for gauging how far out of touch wealthy Republican leaders are with the rest of America? That they have to rely on their handlers for their basic personal info? Do his handlers pick the clothes he will wear each day for him, too?

UPDATE: the Obama campaign has come out with an effective ad on McCain's housing woes and his disconnect from average people, who could never afford to lose track of their ownership obligations.

HT: TPM

UPDATE: Indignation alert via Josh Marshall:
I will not stand by and watch the Obama camp try to claim McCain owns seven homes when he owns at least ten.

UPDATE: Award for the best coinage of a nickname for John McCain's many mansions goes to Southcomm: "McMansions."

  2. This reminds me when someone asked Lamar Alexander how much a gallon of milk and a carton of eggs cost, but it's even worse. It's a little sad, really, for any national politician to pretend that they are "real folks" like the rest of us. They just aren't, or they wouldn't have the means to run for high office, unfortunately.
