No Blaming Hurricane Survivors Victimized by FEMA This Time

90-95% of the residents of coastal Louisiana have evacuated farther inland. 18,000 New Orleaneans took advantage of the city's assisted evacuation program. Highway speeds have been reduced to 10 miles per hour. Commenters are saying on line that it is taking 9 hours to get from New Orleans to Mississippi on I-59. Many South Mississippi gas stations have run out of gas. Many of the Mississippi National Guard now helping Katrina victims living in temporary government housing were not around to assist 3 years ago with the Katrina evacuation because they had been sent to Iraq.

UPDATE: NOLA video of the deserted Downtown NO streets and the obvious presence of National Guardsmen.
