$200K Grant And Metro Matching Funds Reserved For Riverfront Redevelopment From MetroCenter To Rolling Mill Hill

According to today's Nashville City Paper, the Mayor has appointed a committee of department heads and developers to decide over the next five months how to spend $400,000 (Army Corps of Engineers grant and Parks & Greenways matching funds) on redeveloping land along the Cumberland. Three public meetings will be held between now and February to get general imput. The first of those meetings is next week on Oct. 11 at the Nashville Civic Design Center (at Butler's Run on 2nd Ave.).

The Civic Design Center told me that the meeting will run from 11:30 to 1:00. That's not exactly a convenient time to meet for area residents with day jobs, unless they happen to work downtown and brown bag their lunch. I hope that the committee is serious about getting public imput, rather than just going through the motions.
