Sports Writers' Guild Opens Up a Bit
The Baseball Writers Association of America voted Wednesday to open up its membership for the first time to 16 web-based baseball writers who were employed by websites credentialed by Major League Baseball. Even as the conventional newspaper industry was finally choosing up conventional writers who just happened to publish on line, they were also creating some drama by refusing one popular ESPN writer. The guild has a reputation to maintain, right?
