They Were Circling Like Birds of Prey over the Bellevue TIF
The big development news from last night's council meeting was not that developers of Bellevue Mall got their tax increment financing to subsidize their project (along with rose-colored employment and tax revenue projections from Eric Crafton). Bigger news was that Council Members from Antioch, west Nashville, and the Dickerson Road corridor used the time that should have been devoted to debating the merits of the Bellevue tax breaks to making shameless appeals to council and the Mayor's staffers present for the same breaks for developers in their districts. It wasn't pretty, and the Vice Mayor should have nipped the lobbying in the bud.
