Historic Building to Become "Show Piece" of Morgan Park Community Center

The manager at Morgan Park Community Center told me today that the renovation of the historic building that adjoins the larger recreational portions of the center is going to include converting it to a large attractive meeting space. The historic building is over 100 years old. The renovation will include installing hardwood floors and unplugging three fireplaces. More importantly, the Parks Department is going to remove the white paint on the exterior of the building in order to expose the original brick surface.

They are aiming to open by the end of this month and at the latest by the time school starts in August. Once the renovations to the historic house are finished, Salemtown Neighbors will be able to hold its meetings in that attractive old Victorian space.
