Dems Turned to the Mainline and Turned Back the Evangelicals
Today's NY Times has an interesting piece on how Tuesday's nationwide Democratic wins had much to do with organized progressive Christians and the Party's ability to bring home a significant bloc of Roman Catholic and Protestant Mainline voters. It justifies what I have been arguing for a long time: Democrats are going to need to engage faith and values on the campaign trail, because if they don't the Republicans and the Evangelicals--who turned out and GOTV for the Republicans just as hard in this election as any--will coopt those issues for their own purposes.
