Mayor Takes the First Important Step in the Riverfront Development Plan
Details in this morning's City Paper after the jump. Before the hysterical reaction formation gets going on the costs of cutting out big islands in the Cumberland, creating marinas, and turning LP Field's current asphalt paradise into an urban forest, I want to remind folks that the initial stages, or what I called the "bones" of the larger proposal, are realistic and intrinsically worthy goals that will make a better East Bank/Riverfront. Mayor Purcell seems to be taking the plunge on these with or without regard to whether future Mayors lead us toward the larger island project. So, let's not re-sequence cart and horse. His intiative deserves our support.
