Sounds Announce to Season Tix Holders That New Downtown Ballpark Construction Will Be Delayed to April 2009

According to an e-mail from the Sounds Director of Marketing & Promotions:
We are about through the first week of February and construction hasn’t begun so based on the timeline that the builders gave us, it doesn’t appear that opening the stadium in 2008 is going to be a possibility. It is looking more and more likely that it will become an April 2009 opening at this point. There will probably be some sort of formal announcement in the next couple of weeks. I will keep you posted on any further developments. Feel free to contact me if you have any questions.
This is cause for us to reconsider whether we will be purchasing season tickets in the future.

UPDATE: Friday morning's City Paper paints an even bleaker picture.

  1. I'm surprised that we still get to keep a Triple A team here in Nashville for that long, considering the decreptitude of Greer. I'm really beginning to doubt the new owners..
