How is it that the
Tennesseean can promote Fred Thompson's campaign for President for weeks but today
ignore his celebration of President Bush's decision to commute Scooter Libby's conviction? How is it that the
City Paper can follow suit?
Mr. Thompson
fawned:
I am very happy for Scooter Libby.
Given that 7 of 10 Americans opposed a pardon for Libby in March, his Scooter support should follow him around the length and breadth of his campaign.
I can't understand the press's and voters' fascination with Fred Thompson. He seems like a pretty conventional Republican. Does he just have charisma? Is that the only difference? I wonder if he's simply alluring because his actual positions are relatively unknown, so that he can be all things to everyone. I'm slightly curious about what will happen when he has to start taking firm positions on issues.
ReplyDeleteThey are also hiding his pro-amnesty voting record.
ReplyDeleteHe Voted to allow firms to lay off Americans to make room for foreign workers in 1998!!!
He Voted to kill programs that were intended to assist employers in verifying whether people they had just hired had the legal right to work in this country!!!!!
Sen. Thompson, in committee consideration of S.1664 protected businesses from having to pay higher fines when they are caught hiring illegal aliens!!!!
Voted to grant legal status to Nicaraguans and Cubans who had lived in the United States illegally since 1995, along with their spouses and minor unmarried children. The overall ten year impact of this legislation will be the addition of some 967,000 people to U.S!!!
Is anyone surprised? Our local fish-wrap has failed to be anything close to a real "newspaper" since our corporate overlords at Gannett came to town. All The Tennessean is good for anymore is hawk coupons at consumers. It's all about buying stuff. Don't worry about that unfortunate little obstruction of justice by our president, don't worry about the enablers who brough America to war in a foreign land for trumped-up reasons: look! Wide screen TeeVees for just $850!
ReplyDeleteAmericans are asleep. Once again I say, we deserve the government we get.
